Jerome, AZ is perched up in Mingus Mountain and has three wine tasting rooms, great restaurants, shops and galleries...and it's haunted!

I always love visiting Old Town Cottonwood since it's ever changing and is home to my parents. This time around, I noticed a couple of wine tasting rooms, one if which is Arizona Stronghold which was founded by Maynard Keenan of the band TOOL and the other is Pillsbury Wine Company, founded by New Zealand film director and winemaker Sam Pillsbury.

I have to go back soon though, because Verde Valley Olive Oil Traders was closed when I was there. And I definitely plan to explore the Verde Valley Wine Trail.

I'm thinking that I need to find some land and build this little cabin (and it has the plywood that I've been thinking about for my living room ceiling). It certainly would be nice to be able to escape Phoenix during the summer and head North to the pine trees and cooler temperatures.  You can do it yourself for $10,000. One of my new clients recently got married and moved cross country and into her husband's house.  The challenge is to turn the bachelor pad (filled with only his furniture) into a haven for the newlyweds.

Enter Kate.

Kate is a mannequin that lives in the front hall. She came with the bachelor pad and has decided that she needs to stay. That means I have to find a place for her, which I think will actually be fun.

This family room is for a couple who have just found out that they're expecting a baby and have moved from a small space to a large home that needed an update. Since they like blues and greens, we decided to paint the walls in a calm blue/green color. I've added neutrals and pops of white to the scheme while incorporating baby friendly furniture (round tables) and finishes.

We have a new addition to downtown Phoenix and I think it's going to quickly become a favorite of mine. The Duce is a clothing store, 1915 soda fountain, 1920's coffee bar, lounge, restaurant (the kitchen is a 1965 trailer), news stand, farm stand and old school gym creatively united in one space. There's even a set of bleachers from St. Mary's High School gym where you can sit and watch cartoons. You might want to bring the kids! It's located in a 1928 warehouse which originally housed Anchor Manufacturing Company. Since so many of the warehouses in this district are on the endangered list, it's great to see this one saved. Hopefully, more of them will share the same fate.

My husband's art project, 26 Blocks, was shown at After Hours Gallery in May. This very cool live/work space in downtown Phoenix is now a finalist in Dwell Magazine's Houses We Love contest! You can see more of it here and you can vote for your favorite through June 27th.

Here's an interesting article via Sherwin-Williams about how color can impact how students learn and behave. Unfortunately, many schools only allow drab colors on the walls.

26 Blocks was a huge success! Many thanks to all who came out to support the project. The opening was scheduled to run until 9 pm, but there were so many people, the doors didn't close until 11 pm! If you're local and you missed the opening, you can still see the show at After Hours Gallery downtown through the end of the month. After that, It will tour Phoenix so check the 26 Blocks website for details.

My husband has been very hard at work for the past seven (or so) months on a project he created and it's finally happening tomorrow night! If you're in the Phoenix area, be sure to stop by the opening of 26 Blocks which features the work of some of the best photographers and writers in Phoenix along with an amazing sculptor. This is a celebration of downtown Phoenix! After a month-long showing at After Hours Gallery, the show will tour at various venues around town.
